I truly believe that learning never stops, either for us or for the dogs, and that all learning should be done in as close to a stress-free environment as can be managed.
Dogs need to be taught WHAT to do and should be rewarded accordingly. It is unfair to reprimand a dog if it doesn’t understand what is actually required of it.
I do not use Check Chains (Choke Chains) and haven’t used them since the 1990’s.
I like my classes to be fun. I believe that if the handler and the dog are enjoying themselves, it helps learning to take place.
I am Julie Greggains and I have attended a number of courses run by various organisations, including the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers.
I am qualified with the Academy of Dog Training and Behaviour and I am working towards accreditation with KCAI.
I have over thirty years experience in the training of gun dogs and have bred, trained and made-up Labradors into Field Trial Champions.
I am currently ‘owned’ by two Yorkshire Terriers, both of whom have achieved their Kennel Club Good Citizen, Silver Award. We are now preparing for Gold.
I take the Puppy Intermediate and the Advance classes on a Tuesday evening and am also the lead instructor for the Tricks Courses.
