Most owners can benefit from attending good training classes and from training in the company of other dogs as they will provide realistic distractions, making your training much more rewarding. Ideally, you should start as soon as your puppy has completed his puppy vaccinations but, no matter the age of your dog, it is never too late to start. You CAN teach an old dog new tricks! It is a misconception that training a dog takes away its’ personality, on the contrary, a trained dog is a happy and contented dog, knowing his place in the family, and you will find that your dog will be a pleasure to take out. There are many different ways and approaches to training a dog and it is important that you find classes that suit you and your dog. Go and visit several classes first (without your dog) and chose one where the dogs are wagging their tails and are enjoying their training and the owners do not appear to be under any stress. When you find one that suits, book yourself onto a Course.
